Browsing

Image will open in a new window

Scan as you surf. HyperNet will grab website data and add it to your database automatically.

The Browser in HyperNet has been modified to increase security and safety. Tool bar add-ons and other annoying programs have no way of attaching them self to HyperNet. Also some websites which are questionable will simply not load properly if their coding is devious. Being redirected to another web page or bombarded with pop up windows will not occur in HyperNet Browser.

Blank

Clears the currently loaded web site and gives you a blank page. Useful if the Stop function does not stop the page from downloading.

Scanning

The more web sites you have stored in your database the more likely it is you will find exactly what you are after. So instead of waiting for your database to build up slowly from AI passive scanning you can target and zero in on particular subjects by manually driving HyperNet with its scanning features. Read more about it below.

Scan Single URL

Either type in a URL in to the address bar, or click on a search result, database item or scan que item to automatically place an address into the bar and click on Single Scan to attempt to retrieve info about that website. If you already have that address stored in your database and overwrite is turned off then the scan will fail.

Adding items to scan que

A.I. - Passive Website Scanning

This option toggles the Browsers passive scanning feature. If you don't want to scan as you go, simply turn the AI off.

Scans of web pages are 1 level deep and automatically adds it to your database as you surf the internet in the Browser tab. AI only works within HyperNet Browser and does not work from other programs like Internet Explorer.

Deep Scanning

Supposing you found a website that is close to what your looking for but not quite. Simply hit Deep Scan in your browser and HyperNet will automatically probe all surface links connected to that website. Either let it run for a couple of minutes, or even hours. Perform another search and see if you're any closer to finding what your really after.

Deep scan also automatically sets all options to maximum scan and initiates a full scan retrieval from the URL in the address bar. Click a second time to abort Deep Scanning.

Note that A.I. passive scanning is disabled while a full scan is in progress.

Browser Options

Image will open in a new window

Automatically scanning the internet unattended is very dangerous and all attempts to make this process safe have been implemented by means of blocking certain features inherent in most browsers. Pop-ups are blocked by default and it is not recommended that you change this. You may however from time to time need to disable the feature as some websites only allow the browsing of their links into new windows.

HyperNet Browser can be set to automatically wipe all internet cache files, history & cookies.

Back to Index

Internet Options

This will open the window which has your internet options. E.g. home page, cookie management and default programs.

The home page and security features are adhered to by HyperNet, however you can clean and wipe your cache much more easily with HyperNet's Browser Options.

Trouble Shooting

Scan que has stopped but not finished!

A website resists analysis!

:Some web sites do not like being probed for information and will sometimes have coding in their HTML which can interfere with automated scans. Click on the Stop Scan button or the 'C' button and try using the A.I. Passive scanner in the browser and manually surfing through the website.

:With some websites you must log in and accept cookies in order to access their pages. Try turning on Allow Cookies and retry a manual or passive scan.

:Some websites are just plain evil and will try to redirect, hack, upload viruses and gather information about you simply by talking to them. There is no guarantee that HyperNet will not encounter sites like this. Precautions have been taken to protect you from them however HyperNet from time to time will be unable to proceed if such an event occurs. Try restarting your scan from another link within the same genre but from a more reputable web site.

A website suddenly becomes unavailable

:Automated network defense systems can sometimes react to scans as though they were intrusions from hackers and so block ports to prevent any problems.

:Some web sites don't like being probed and will automatically enable an IP block to your location. This is usually temporary and is lifted after a short time.

Back to Index

Scans take a long time between URL's

:If you are using firewall software or have a hardware firewall in your modem or router you should check to see that port flooding protection is not interfering with HyperNet's scanning process.

Back to Index

Some scans don't work at all

:Some websites don't like being probed. Try navigating manually in the Browser with passive scan turn on and cookies enabled. If that doesn't work they simply don't want to be scanned. It is suggested that you leave them alone and search for your information else where.

Back to Index

Some web sites don't fully load

Usually web sites that do not fully download in the Browser want to use third part programs, install tool bars, or run scripts in pop up windows. Because they can't do that in HyperNet the page does not open up correctly. If you really want to see what is in that site do so with another browser. But be careful.
